CoreWeave Bond Yields Stay Near 15% as AI Stocks Rebound — Credit Investors Are Not Moving On
As of Oct 19, CoreWeave's 9.625% 2032 bonds yielded 14.9% and its 5-year CDS stood at ~1,082 bps — distressed territory — even as AI equities rallied. With ~$35.6B in total debt and Q2 interest expense of $640M against a $49M operating loss, credit markets are openly questioning whether the neocloud's debt-funded capex model (~$31–35B in 2026 alone) is sustainable. A sustained closure of debt-market access would directly threaten CoreWeave's data-center buildout and its role as a key AI-infrastructure provider to Microsoft and OpenAI.

Credit Stress Is Threatening to Unwind the AI Bull — All Eyes Are on Oracle to Hold the Investment-Grade Line
Oracle's 5-year CDS hit a record 288 bps on Oct 15 and remained elevated on Oct 19, while its longest-dated bonds yield ~8.45% — implying a market-implied 5-year default probability above 20%. Rated BBB- by S&P (the lowest IG rung, downgraded July 9) and Baa2 negative outlook by Moody's, Oracle carries $169B in total debt and burned >$20B in free cash flow over the last four quarters. Economist David Rosenberg called Oracle the 'canary in the coal mine'; a junk downgrade would be the clearest signal of AI-capex credit contagion spreading from neoclouds to investment-grade hyperscalers.

Nearly 50% of 2026 Data Center Bonds Are Junk — $37B in High-Yield Issuance, More Than 4× the 2025 Total
Of $80B in data-center bonds raised YTD in 2026, $37B — nearly half — are sub-investment-grade, more than four times the 2025 junk total. With ~$4B of CoreWeave corporate debt trading below 80 cents and yields on data-center project bonds averaging 11% (vs. ~7% for BB+ peers), the cost of financing AI capex for Digital Realty, Equinix and neocloud tenants is rising sharply. Combined with $228B+ of IG supply from Alphabet, Amazon, Meta and Oracle this year, the structural shift from equity-funded to debt-funded AI capex is being tested by rising rates and investor fatigue.
